Privacy Policy for KeyCorrect

At KeyCorrect, we believe that your typing data is strictly your business. We built this extension with privacy at its core. This Privacy Policy outlines what information we collect, what we strictly do not collect, and how your data is handled when you use the KeyCorrect browser extension.

1. Information We DO NOT Collect

We want to be absolutely clear about what happens when you type using KeyCorrect:

  • No Keylogging: We never collect, track, or transmit the words you type on any website.
  • No Autocorrect Tracking: The words corrected by the extension are stored strictly in your browser's local storage for fast lookups. We do not send your autocorrect history to our servers.
  • No Browsing Data: We do not track the websites you visit or monitor your browsing behavior.

2. Information We Collect

Our data collection depends entirely on the plan you are using:

A. Free Plan Users

  • Data Collected: None.
  • When you install KeyCorrect and use the default Free Plan, you do not need to create an account. All data, including your basic autocorrect preferences and your custom text snippets (up to 5) are saved locally on your computer. No data leaves your machine.

B. Lifetime Premium Plan Users

If you choose to upgrade to our Lifetime Premium plan, we collect the bare minimum required to provide you with your purchase:

  • Email Address: We collect your email address solely for account creation, verifying your Premium license, and checkout purposes.
  • Payment Information: Payments are processed securely through our third-party payment provider. KeyCorrect does not collect or store your credit card or payment details.

3. Cloud Sync Feature (Optional)

As a Premium user, you have the option to back up your text snippets (upto 500) to the cloud.

  • Manual Sync Only: There is no automatic background syncing. Your data only leaves your device when you explicitly click the "Sync Snippets" button.
  • On-Demand Retrieval: You can download your saved snippets to a new device or browser only when you click the "Fetch Snippets" button.
  • What Gets Synced: Only your custom text snippets and their expansions are transmitted. Your autocorrect history is never synced and remains strictly local.

4. How We Use Your Information

For Premium users, the minimal information we collect is used strictly to:

  • Verify your Lifetime Premium purchase.
  • Provide customer support regarding your account.
  • Deliver extension functionality and support features you choose to use.

5. Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: By default, all KeyCorrect data lives locally within your browser. If you uninstall the extension, your data is permanently deleted from your device.
  • Cloud Storage: If you use the Premium Cloud Sync feature, your snippets are only uploaded or downloaded when you explicitly trigger it by clicking the "Sync Snippet" or "Fetch Snippet" button. Text snippet data is never sent to or retrieved from our servers automatically in the background. You can delete your synced snippets at any time by deleting the snippet, which will prompt you to also remove it from the cloud.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our extension or for legal reasons. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy and/or providing a notice within the extension.
